The contract consisted of the electrification of 6.5 km of non-electrified Iberian gauge single track between the Guillarei triangle at the north exit of Guillarei station and Valeça do Minho on the Portuguese border using 3 kV continuous 3 kV compensated catenary type CA-160 but adapted to allow isolation suitable for 25 kV.
