Telice promotes fire safety modernization in the Madrid-Valladolid Corridor tunnels

Telice (Teléfonos líneas y Centrales, S.A.), through its Temporary Joint Venture (UTE) with SYNEOX RAIL, S.L.U. and MONCOBRA, S.A., is positioned as a key player in the transformation of railway safety in Spain. The company has been awarded a strategic project for ADIF Alta Velocidad, aimed at reinforcing fire protection in two of the most critical sections of the Madrid-Valladolid Corridor: the Guadarrama Tunnel and the San Pedro Tunnel.

This contract, with a total value of 2,861,235.10 € (excluding VAT), has as its main objective the replacement of the existing 1,715 equipped fire hydrants (B.I.E.s) – 1,327 in the Guadarrama Tunnel and 388 in the San Pedro Tunnel – by connection points called siamesas. This action is not only a technical upgrade, but a profound improvement of the protection system that seeks to optimize operability, reduce maintenance costs and increase the reliability of the fire protection distribution network.

The project, of a mixed nature (supply and services), is part of a comprehensive modernization strategy for the railway infrastructure. By replacing the traditional B.I.E.s with Siamese, Telice contributes to a significant reduction in the number of installed equipment, which simplifies system management and reduces potential failure points. In addition, this solution guarantees identical or superior operating conditions, while maintaining full emergency response capability, a critical aspect in tunnels where accessibility and intervention time are determining factors.

This project aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It directly supports SDG 9 (Sustainable and Innovative Infrastructure) by driving the modernization of critical infrastructure. It contributes to SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth) by generating skilled employment in the construction and engineering sector. Furthermore, by improving the reliability and efficiency of the fire protection system, it enhances road safety and reduces the risk of operational disruptions, which also has a positive impact on the sustainability of rail transport (SDG 13: Climate action).

With this new contract, Telice reaffirms its leadership in the development of technological and infrastructure solutions for the Spanish railway sector.
